The Status of the Israeli Woman – Comparative Analysis with the Status of the Arab Woman in the Middle East

תקציר

The present work aims to present the current situation of women in Israel in comparison to the Arab women in the Middle East, where the State of Israel from the perspective of women’s rights is seen as a role model in the region. In the first part we focused on presenting the Old Testament, as it has a special relevance in understanding correctly and completely the status of the Israeli woman in the nowadays society. The second part contains important mentions on the roots, as well as the expansion of the women's rights in traditional Judaism, halakhah and in the collective community formed before the formation of the State of Israel. The third and the last part, represents the core of this paper and includes a detailed analysis of the status of women in Israel today, and the comparison with the status of the Arab women in the other countries in the Middle East, which we have chosen to introduce into the same chapter and not separately, for better emphasizing the differences.
